The ECIS 2023 Industry innovation forum brings together information systems scholars and practitioners from private and public sector. Several showcase examples will be presented to stimulate debate around hot topics related to the relationships between digital transformation and sustainable development – as well as necessary measures to ensure mutually beneficial co-creation between practice and academia.
Abstract: What are the links between the digital and the green transitions, and what research are required to make the twin transition a success? The main reasons for asking these questions are the power of the digital transition of society, at a time when climate change, loss of biodiversity and environmental degradation are existential threats to the world. The ongoing and comprehensive digital transition of society can and must contribute towards the green transition, but the digital transition itself must also become greener. Based on the dynamics and strength of digitalization the talk discuss how the digital transition can contribute to the green transition, and how these two transitions can influence and reinforce each other.
The session showcases the national Norwegian GoForIT collaboration, currently consisting of around 40 IT companies and 12 academic institutions, working together to identify knowledge gaps related to digital transformations and sustainability, sharing experiences, and establishing new practices building new knowledge.
